The Hong Kong Gold Coast Boat Show 2016 went off like a bottle of Moët Chandon across a bow—with a glamorous smash!
Under the theme “Affordable Luxury” this four-day event in early May at the Gold Coast Yacht and Country Club welcomed the worlds best boat and yacht exhibitors.
In total, over HK$ 1 billion worth of sleek aquatic watercraft were presented, ranging from small sailboats and runarounds to superyachts costing between below HK$ 200,000 to upwards of HK$90 million.
Gold Coast organizers said of the opening gala, “The evening, enlivened by a live band and acrobatic performances, was attended by more than 150 guests including VIPs, boats lovers and industry professionals. Anthony Lau, Giovanni Viterale, Edward Yu, Michelle Cheng, Antonia Li and Derrick Fung were among the guests at the opening ceremony.”
So was Gordon Hui, Chairman, Sunseeker Asia—one of the headline sponsors.
Said Mr. Hui, “I thought Gold Coast show was very well organized, the turnout was quite positive and generated several serious enquiries namely the larger Sunseeker units Yacht 131, 116 and 95 but also interest or the smaller Portofino 40, San Remo, Manhattan 55 and the new Manhattan 52. With the difficulties with no mooring space for the 100ft+, HK is a difficult market for the larger units so our new Yacht 95 is a popular size nowadays.”
Added Mr, Hui, “In terms of offers, I am sure all the other brands are offering special discounts in this tough market and we were pleased to be able to offer heavy discounts too. For example I had offered our Yacht 131 with big discounts including a free Aston Martin Vantage for a HK purchaser.”
In sum, it was a golden experience—with more gilded sailing treasures planned for the show next year!
